Is Botox for me?

One of the most common questions we get in the aesthetic practices is:

“ my wrinkles are still faint, how long can I wait before I need to get Botox?”

I usually start by saying, Botox is a personal preference, some people decide to get Botox because they don't want to deal with wrinkles across their forehead, or between and around their eyes.

So the question is not really if you should get Botox or not, because it is a personal choice, the question for me is when to start getting the Botox if you don’t want to see wrinkles on your face.

We classify the fascial wrinkles into dynamic and static wrinkles. While dynamic wrinkles are those that arise when you frown, raise your eyebrows, or smile, and disappear right after your facial muscles relax, static wrinkles on the other hand are those which remain on the face while your muscles are relaxed.

Static lines are similar to the folding line on a piece of paper or cloth that if you repeatedly fold it at the same spot, It will create a permanent wrinkle.

Botox is definitely able to reduce the static wrinkles, but not as quickly as it removes the finer or dynamic lines that eventually will transform into static permanent lines.

That being said, there is no substitute for a consultation with your provider about the right treatment options.
